Reverse‑Common Isolated I/O
for Current Source Applications

The PIO‑32/32RL(PCI)H provides 32 opto‑isolated inputs (compatible with current source output) and 32 opto‑isolated outputs (current source type) on a PCI bus board. It features reverse‑common configuration with positive logic. All 32 inputs can be used as interrupt request signals with per‑bit enable/disable and selectable edge triggering.

Reverse‑common configuration — inputs use negative common (IN‑0/1, IN‑2/3); outputs use positive common (OP‑4/5, OP‑6/7). Positive logic: ON = High level ("1").


Built for Reliable Operation

  • Opto‑isolated bus — 500 Vrms isolation between PCI bus and I/O interfaces, excellent noise immunity.
  • Current source I/O — inputs compatible with current source output; outputs are current source type (PNP).
  • Positive logic — data "1" corresponds to High level; data "0" corresponds to Low level.
  • Surge protection — zener diode (RD47FM or equivalent) on each output transistor.
  • Overcurrent protection — per 8 output channels; protects output transistors from excessive current.
  • Digital filter — software‑configurable per input to reject noise and contact bounce.
  • Interrupt on all 32 inputs — edge selectable (rising/falling) per bit; disable/enable in bit units.

Connector & Cabling

The board uses a 96‑pin half‑pitch connector (CN1). Pin assignments: I‑00 to I‑37 (inputs), O‑40 to O‑77 (outputs), OP‑4/5 and OP‑6/7 (output common positive), IN‑0/1 and IN‑2/3 (input common negative), and NC. Both pins in each common group must be connected.

  • Input common (IN‑0/1, IN‑2/3) — negative side of external supply; separate common per 16 channels. Both pins must be connected.
  • Output common (OP‑4/5, OP‑6/7) — positive side of external supply; separate common per 16 channels. Both pins must be connected.
  • Positive logic — ON = High level ("1"); OFF = Low level ("0").
  • Optional cables — shielded/flat 96‑pin half‑pitch cables (PCB96PS, PCB96P, PCA96PS, PCA96P), conversion cables to 37‑pin D‑SUB (PCB96WS).
