The PIO-16/16RL(PCI)H is a PCI bus‑compliant digital I/O board with 16 opto‑isolated inputs (current source compatible) and 16 opto‑isolated open‑collector outputs (current source type). All I/O lines are isolated from the PC bus (1000Vrms dielectric strength) for robust noise immunity in factory automation and test equipment.

Digital filter prevents noise or chatter from causing erroneous inputs. Interrupt capability on any of the 16 input channels with selectable edge trigger.

Built for Reliability

  • Opto-isolated bus — 1000Vrms dielectric strength between PC and I/O, excellent noise immunity.
  • Surge protection — Zener diode (RD47FM or equivalent) on each output transistor.
  • Overcurrent protection — PolySwitch-based protector per 8 output channels; temporarily disables output when triggered.
  • Digital filter — on input channels to reject noise and contact bounce.
  • Wide operating range — 0‑50°C, 10‑90% RH (no condensation).

Connectors & Cabling

The board uses a 37-pin D-SUB connector (female). Pin assignments: I-00 to I-17 (inputs), O-20 to O-37 (outputs), IN 0/1 (input common, negative side of external supply), OP 2/3 (output common, positive side of external supply).

  • Input common (IN 0/1) — connect negative side of external 12‑24VDC supply. All 16 inputs share this common.
  • Output common (OP 2/3) — connect positive side of external supply. All 16 outputs share this common.
  • Output protection — zener diode per channel, overcurrent protector per 8 channels.
  • Cables & accessories — PCB37P/PCB37PS flat/shielded cables (0.5m to 5m), screw terminal boards EPD-37A (M3), EPD-37 (M3.5), DTP-3C, DTP-4C (all optional).
