RS-422A/485 Conversion

The COM-1PD2-USB converts a USB port of a PC into an RS-422A/485 serial communications port. The product features isolation between the PC and bus line as well as surge protection circuits on communication ports, providing excellent noise immunity for industrial applications. It supports baud rates up to 921,600 bps and includes separate 128-byte transmit and 384-byte receive FIFO buffer memory.

Electric isolation is provided between the PC and the RS-422A/485 bus line. This prevents electric noise from affecting the PC and external circuits. The product is a successor to COM-1PD(USB)H, with compatibility in dimensions, connectors, signal layout, and software.

The COM-1PD2-USB features a 9-pin D-SUB connector (male) for RS-422A/485 connections and a USB Type-A connector for connection to the PC.

  • RS-422A/485 Interface — Differential transmission with twisted-pair cable for improved noise immunity.
  • Pin assignment — Pin 1: CTS-, Pin 2: RTS+, Pin 3: RxD+, Pin 4: RxD-, Pin 5: TxD+, Pin 6: SG, Pin 7: CTS+, Pin 8: RTS-, Pin 9: TxD-.
  • Terminator and mode setting — DIP switch for data transmission mode and terminator resistor selection.
  • Full-duplex mode — Supports connection with RTS and CTS to external device, or self-looping.
  • Half-duplex mode — Simplified connection for 2-wire communication.

Note: The pin assignment for CTS uses even-numbered pins for negative and odd-numbered pins for positive — this is not a description error.
