East Japan Marketing & Communications grew its J-AD Vision station signage network to 170 screens at 18 locations. Ultra-thin, fanless BX-950 computers drive the full HD displays.
Overview
East Japan Marketing & Communications, Inc. is an advertising and media company that uses the JR East Japan Group’s stations, railcars, stores and Suica system in its marketing plans. After testing digital signage at Tokyo Station’s Yaesu south entrance in July 2008, it expanded across the city; by the end of 2009 its J-AD Vision network had 170 screens at 18 locations in 12 stations.
Solution
Each display connects to an ultra-thin BX-950 Box Computer (IPC-BX950T1D-DC) that plays HD images and rich content. At 35 × 182 × 257 mm it fits almost anywhere, and its fanless, diskless design suits long-term embedded use and reduces maintenance and running costs. A DVI interface drives full HD (1920 × 1080) displays.
At Shinagawa Station, the screens line the free passage linking the central entrance, the Shinkansen platforms and the Konan exit, with a constant flow of people heading to the business district and the airport.
